Alston Construction Completes New State-of-the-Art Headquarters for Meats by Linz

Meats by Linz, one of the nation’s most renowned meat purveyors, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of its new $52 million, 120,000-square-foot headquarters and production facility in Hammond, Indiana. The event marked a significant milestone for the company and the community, attended by distinguished guests, including Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr., Owner and CEO Frederick Linz, and Rob Ferrino of 219 Development and Bauer Construction.

The new facility, built by Alston Construction, designed by Rieke Interiors and financed through Wintrust Banking, features 80,000 square feet of operational space, luxury office areas, a top-of-the-line test kitchen, backup freezers, and one of the country’s largest 4,000-square-foot dry-aging rooms. This state-of-the-art headquarters will enable Meats by Linz to better serve its national and international markets while creating over 300 jobs relocated from Calumet City, Illinois, and an additional 50 new positions in Hammond.

During the ceremony, guests were treated to a guided tour of the facility, followed by a lively luncheon catered by Rosebud Steakhouse, a proud partner of Meats by Linz. Frederick Linz, CEO of Meats by Linz, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Our growth and success since my grandfather opened a neighborhood butcher shop 60 years ago stems directly from the dedication and unwavering spirit of every member of our team. Along with our world-class ranching operations, this grand opening reflects our exciting growth within the industry, and we’re honored to share this milestone with the Hammond community, our team, our partners, and our supporters.”

Mayor McDermott highlighted the economic impact of the project, saying, “Having an internationally known company like Meats by Linz relocate its global headquarters to Hammond is a huge economic development victory for our city. The $52 million investment, construction of the 120,000 square foot facility, and over 300 jobs are a testament to the hard work and partnership of my administration with the leadership of Meats by Linz.”

Alston Construction played a crucial role in delivering the project on time and within budget. Bob Murray, SVP of Alston Construction, praised the team’s efforts: “Thanks to your tireless efforts in pushing up the completion date and delivering the building early, we were able to meet the needs of our client with exceptional efficiency. It was truly inspiring to watch everyone come together, working at an impressive pace to accomplish two months’ worth of work in just one month.”
