Alston Chicago Office Breaks Ground on ECHA Lakeshore Manor in East Chicago, IN

On October 27, the Chicago office, East Chicago Housing Authority (ECHA), and other partners broke ground on Lakeshore Manor. Lakeshore Manor is a 206-unit housing development will be a replacement for the John B. Nicosia Senior Building. The city’s new senior housing will be blocks from the Lake Michigan shore amid the new walkable city development known as North Harbor. Those who had been living in the Nicosia building will be given priority to filling the new development if they choose to relocate there.

The project is two, three-story buildings containing 206 bright and airy apartments that include amenities most requested by seniors. Built to green standards, the development will include secure, brightly lit entrances, color-coded elevators and floors, ADA units as well as efficient heating and cooling. Scope includes parking for 94 automobiles, bike racks, and each apartment will be furnished with appliances.
