Thermoflex contracted with Alston Construction to build a 120,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for plastic injection molding. The project was very unique due to the special construction used for the concrete floors to support a 120,000-point injection molder.
The floor construction process included analysis of loadings for the injection machines and design of heavy-duty concrete slabs to support the immense weight. The Alston solution was a 10,000-square-foot section of more than 13-foot reinforced concrete slabs to support the machines. The project also features a grinding room, eight docks and an overhead crane.
