I-Port 12 International Trade Logistics Center Carteret, New Jersey

Alston Construction performed all design-build services for the construction of IPort 12’s International Trade & Logistics Center. These services included preconstruction budgeting, design management, subcontractor procurement, project management, site supervision, quality control and safety management.

The 1,264,635-square-foot facility consists of two buildings that feature:
• 103 dock doors with a 36′ clear height
• EFSR fire protection
• 3000 AMP service
• Trailer parking 162/20, car parking 245/77
• Truck counts of 130′ x 140′

The distribution center transformed trash into treasure, with the two buildings located on an existing 70-acre landfill in Carteret, New Jersey. To secure the facility, Alston Construction drove 8,000 piles 55-feet deep into bedrock.

The project was completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget.

Honest expressions of concrete wall planes were contrasted with lighter appearing glass walls to create a powerful display of “way-finding” articulation for entry and exit nodes to and from the building. Despite the obstacles, Alston Construction completed the project on time while staying under the proposed budget.
