Alston Construction joined Key Group, Hines, and the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority on-site last week for the groundbreaking of Space Coast Innovation Park, a new industrial development located within the airport’s federally licensed Exploration Spaceport.

The event drew state and local officials, as the park is expected to play a significant role in the region’s growing aerospace economy. A Florida Commerce business development manager told the group that aerospace has made Brevard County the most productive per-capita manufacturing county in the state, a trend this project is set to build on.

The first phase of the park calls for three Class A industrial buildings totaling approximately 650,000 square feet, purpose-built to serve both public and private space industry tenants. Hines, a global real estate firm based in Houston, is developing the park alongside Titusville-based Key Group on land leased from the airport.

State officials estimate the broader project will bring more than 900 jobs to the area. Site work is already underway on a Challenger Avenue extension that will connect Grissom Parkway to the airport’s Perimeter Road, supported in part by a $5.8 million state grant Governor Ron DeSantis announced for road infrastructure serving the park.
